For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

JOB SUMMARY
The Business Manager Patient Care Services partners on strategic planning projects and manages all business and administrative related functions for Patient Care Services - to include Nursing Units, Emergency Department, Perioperative services and Nursing Education. Responsible for the financial planning, evaluation, and reporting functions for Patient Care Services in the East Region. Provides financial and business expertise on operational budgets, personnel budgets, capital budgets, project planning, case mix and other PCS activities.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred 
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of health care administrative related experience preferably working in a hospital environment.     

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements  
•    Strong knowledge of health business related experience, preferably in hospital environment.
•    Understanding of developing operating budget and staffing productivity metrics. 
•    Experience with microcomputers, including experience using spreadsheet, relational database, and word processing applications. 
•    Strong problem-solving skills, and have 
•    Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
