Job Description:

The OR Program Manager works collaboratively with the Operating Room Leadership team in implementation of strategic planning, program development, operational quality improvement for perioperative services. Works with Director and Various Managers in overseeing clinical operations for Perioperative Services, utilizing their specialized expertise and training.

 

Job Description:

  • Develops clinical pathways in accordance with AORN patient care standards of service line; works collaboratively with perioperative educator on in servicing and educational opportunities. Leads and monitors patient satisfaction, initiates and collaborates with team to promote positive patient experience.
  • Develops & implement staffing models to ensure staffing resources are appropriate. Analyses OR data and works across OR departments (Schedulers, Surgeons, Anesthesia, etc) to optimize OR schedules (surgical rooms, staffing, etc) for efficiency and provide opportunities for future expansion and growth. Collaborates with front line leaders to ensure staffing resources are appropriate. Educate and create new workflows that optimize efficiency and decrease workload for frontline staff.
  • Develops, updates, maintains and implements department policies and procedure materials to optimize efficiency
  • Educates leaders on staff planning, implementation, evaluation, and consultation to ensure successful Performance Management, Patient Safety and Quality.
  • Analyzes system audits and develops strategy to optimize efficiency. Reports out to management on findings and recommendations
  • Supports frontline staff in room turnover, opening trays, bringing patients to room, breaks when needed, throughout of patients through OR.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

  • 5 years of RN Experience
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience with a minimum of 2 years

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in surgical operations

Licensure, Certification, Registration

  • Valid CT Registered Nurse

Language Skills

  • English

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Surgical Services
  • Demonstrated Understanding and experience in creating, implementing and managing hospital protocols and quality systems
  • Excellent foundation of perioperative services operations/administration
  • Knowledge of specialized applications software for medical record, patient scheduling and billing.
  • Strong ability to work completely independently
  • Must be able to use sound judgement in solving problems
  • Strong ability to coordinate many complex systems and programs simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative, influencing, and relationship management skills
  • Specialized knowledge and training in areas of responsibility
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
