Job Summary
Performs clinical patient assessment and diagnostic vascular examinations, including: extracranial cerebral, peripheral arterial, venous, and visceral studies with limited supervision. Consults with referring MD and/or patient chart to assure appropriate lab procedure.
Uses independent judgment and systematic problem solving methods to provide high quality diagnostic information following appropriate protocols, recognizing abnormalities, and adjusting examination when clinically necessary.
Maintains a patient centered approach by preparing patients and families for examinations with explanations.
Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge and behaviors to meet age specific patient needs
Records data and provides appropriate documentation of examinations including proper billing procedures to assure appropriate charging and reimbursement, prepares summary of technical findings.
Contributes to care improvement by assisting with the maintenance of IAC accreditation, including participation in preparation and presentation of QA meetings and by participating in mentoring.
Works effectively as a team member both within and across clinical setting to provide quality services through communication, cooperation, and collaboration. Reports to the Manager of Non-invasive Cardiology and the Unit Leader.
Qualifications
•Associates Degree in health related field and graduate of an accredited ultrasound program required. Bachelor’s Degree in health related field preferred.
•RVT or registry eligible with vascular experience, if not registered, candidate is expected to sit and pass exam within one year of employment.
•One to two years of previous vascular ultrasound experience, preferably hospital based
• Full-time Day shift Monday-Friday with limited weekend/holiday call requirement
•Minimal computer skills
