Position Summary:
The Director of Psychology has responsibility for the operations of psychology based outpatient and integrative health programs as well as the psychology training program at the Institute of Living. The Director is responsible for the operational and clinical oversight of these programs identifying opportunities for growth and operationalizing those opportunities. As a member of the IOL leadership team the Director will work in collaboration with the Vice President of Clinical Operations, the Medical Director and the Department Chair.
Key Accountabilities:
Collaborates with program managers in the development and expansion of program services; helps to identify market opportunities and steers the process towards pursuit of market goals and opportunities
Works through the IOL leadership team, management team and medical leadership of the hospitals, serving as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives, and analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions
Develops and fosters an effective collaboration between clinical departments, divisions, medical staff leadership, faculty and other affiliated services (inside and outside of the hospital) to ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling the hospital’s goals and objectives
Oversees all quality, program and individual credentialing and regulatory requirements for clinical and training program
Responsible for managing a budget within established guidelines; including allocation of resources, overtime utilization and approval
Provides leadership and management for direct reports, including staff training and development, allocation of staffing resources, work flow management, performance monitoring, pro-active problem resolution and corrective action when necessary, in accordance with established policies and procedures
Ensures that client records are timely and through, incidents are well documented and reported according to Joint Commission, DCF and other regulatory guidelines
Ensures efficient intake and admission processes, including referral source liaison and development
Ensures that systems are in place so that programs meet relevant licensing and accreditation standards
Monitors and reports key quality improvement indicators and develops strategies for attaining Quality Improvement goals. Designs, oversees and participates in Quality Improvement activities
Responsible for revenue cycle performance and for the overall financial performance. Oversees authorization denial and collection processes to ensure maximization of revenue and to ensure clients receive appropriate clinical services
Qualifications
Doctoral degree required: either Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
Five plus years of experience working with a behavioral health population
Two plus years in a leadership position
CT licensure as a PhD or PsyD is required
Visible leader with excellent interpersonal communication skills who relates well with all levels of the organization
A creative, forward thinking leader with the proven ability to engage, coach and mentor direct reports, colleagues and other key stakeholders
