Join a Vibrant, Expanding Thoracic Service Line in Connecticut!
APP Role Scope:
This role will include outpatient support for a team of 4 thoracic surgeons across Hartford Healthcare. This would consist of annual/semi-annual surveillance of lung, esophageal and other malignancies as well as benign diseases of the chest and foregut. The opportunity for training and performance of in office procedures such as thoracentesis, removal of indwelling tunneled pleural catheters and removal of feeding tubes. A high level of autonomy is expected, but support from attending surgeons is widely available. Participation in development of lung cancer screening program as well. Some travel to satellite locations will be expected.
Hartford HealthCare’s Thoracic Surgery team is equipped with the latest techniques for dealing with benign and malignant conditions of the lung, chest wall, and esophagus. Minimally invasive techniques allow us to deal with lung cancer in a manner that maximizes patient comfort and minimizes hospital stays. We have access to a variety of advanced technologies for invasive mediastinal staging without incisions. We are also committed to providing compassionate care for every stage of esophageal cancer. Working hand-in-hand with a multidisciplinary team, we are involved in formulating an individualized care plan for each patient. Furthermore, we are one of the few centers in the region with expertise in minimally-invasive esophagectomy (MIE), an advanced technique that permits us to remove esophageal cancers through small incisions.
