Critical Care Core Nurse Educator
Functioning within the context of the framework for professional nursing practice, the Nurse Educator, in consultation and collaboration with nursing leadership and the Health Care Team, facilitates training, education and development by assessing, planning, developing, implementation, coordination and evaluation of projects and programs for staff, faculty, patient populations and the community. This is accomplished to ensure role competence, compliance with regulatory standards, and to meet organizational goals.

Role includes:

  • -Develop and coordinate the 4 week critical care core program and align with up to date evidence based nursing practice
  • -Partner with the Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation to develop patient scenarios that foster the development of critical thinking skills
  • -Continuous evaluation of classes and the course to foster improvements and to keep content current
  • -Assist unit-based critical care educators with Skills Days and other critical care educational needs
  • -Assist centralized nursing education with orientation and ongoing classes for new nurses, patient care assistants and patient administrative assistants
  • -Develop, instruct and coordinate Advanced Critical Care Core classes for technologies such as pulmonary artery catheters

Qualifications

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required (one degree must be in nursing) Demonstrated strong clinical competence and ability to communicate and teach in areas of assignment.

-RN Manager or Nursing Leadership experience preferred.

-Minimum 3 years appropriate recent experience in an acute care setting.

-AHA BLS and ACLS certification required

-Proficiency in developing curriculum, presentations, and experiences which are engaging to the nurse who is new to critical care

-Proven ability to modify education techniques for teaching all levels of expertise in nursing, including new graduate nurses
