The System Director of Regulatory Readiness is an inspiring leader who provides strategic operational insight in regards to regulatory readiness throughout Hartford Healthcare. Working collaboratively with senior leaders, clinical department chairs, risk management, employees and administrative leadership, the System Director ensures success in regulatory and accreditation compliance so that the highest standards of care are achieved across the entire Hartford HealthCare system.
Provides leadership and subject matter expertise to HHC constituents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Identifies and addresses gaps during mock and real surveys with leadership, especially those related to regulatory standards and hospital policy compliance. Provides educational and training programs relating to compliance issues, safety and quality issues, and continuous regulatory readiness
In collaboration with HHC constituents, develops and recommends best practices; oversees implementation of practices and programs. Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement of services provided.
Engages staff in process improvement and change activities. Encourages positive response to new opportunities, new technology and changes in healthcare
Responsible for independent action in project oversight, systems design and implementation, regulatory readiness improvement as identified through gap analysis and mock surveys. Uses performance improvement methodologies to achieve these goals
Collaborates with colleagues to support and coordinate clinical safety and quality activities throughout the institution and ensure that all safety and quality compliance issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
Collaborates with Clinicians, Clinical Leaders, and members of key committees to set goals/assess hospital(s) performance, prioritize resources, implement change through facilitation and other activities, and assess project success
Provides guidance and facilitation to clinical and non-clinical departments. Serves on multiple hospital committees to continually assess aspects of hospital(s) TJC/DPH/CMS readiness and compliance
Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (TJC, CMS, DPH, etc.) for quality and safety reporting as relevant
Provides key regulatory safety and quality data highlighting business and operational issues requiring management attention and resources
Participates in department task forces and committees to provide operational input
Assists in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA) as needed
Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field is preferred
Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Other licensed healthcare professionals may be considered
Five plus years of clinical experience
Strong knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) and Department of Public Health (DPH) regulatory standards
Quality Improvement experience
Experience with electronic health records and eCQMs
Strong leadership and educator skills
Strong written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with others collaboratively to achieve common objectives
Highly effective analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong facilitation skills. Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams
Able to interact fluidly with staff at all levels within the organization, from front-line to senior leadership
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects from initiation to completion within prescribed schedules and utilization of resources
Maintain currency in knowledge, skills, and credentials through participation in seminars, conferences and other educational opportunities
