For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

Performs EKGs and assists in management of Muse EKG management system. Applies holter, event and ambulatory blood pressure monitors and routine pacemaker follow-up evaluations.  Prepares patients for cardiac stress testing.   Maintains department inventories.  Performs receptionist/scheduler duties. Provides clerical support for Cardiac Rehab. Provides department transport support.  Demonstrates knowledge of care for required age-specific populations necessary to carry out safe and effective performance of duties.


Education: High school education or equivalent.  

Experience: CNA or PCT or relevant direct patient care experience. EKG experience preferred. 

Licensure, Certification, Registration:  Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements  
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers. Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately. Ability to prioritize daily work assignments.
 Able to take appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances and problems. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
