Job Summary:

Manages and provides oversight of all Medical Education programs at Hartford Hospital including UME with particular emphasis on Graduate Medical Education; Hartford Hospital supports close to 300 FTE positions for GME training which includes twenty two Hartford Hospital Residency and Fellowship programs with approximately 85 residents and fellows as well as ~670 residents and fellows from the approximately 50 UConn GME programs who train at Hartford Hospital, which is a primary teaching site for those programs.   Oversees all required institutional and accreditation standards.  Also manages Students and Allied Health medical education and Summer Pre-Med and Research Programs.

 

  • Manages the Medical Education department staff; recruits, trains and conducts performance evaluation, mentor and coach, provides constructive feedback and corrective action; establishes and maintains office procedures, develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards; sets timelines with staff for task/job completion
  • Oversees all required processing of Residents, Fellows, Medical student and Internships/Allied Health students and  summer internship program which includes onboarding/ orientation, credentialing process [obtaining appropriate training visas, NPI, Controlled Substance, CMAP, CPMRs, PECOS and other State permits as required.], status changes [terminations, leave of absences, etc.  Ensures all requirements documents meets accreditation standards
  •  Ensures House Staff manual/GME policies are periodically updated.
  • General oversight of ~50 UConn sponsored programs [670 + residents and fellows annually]
  • Budgetary oversight for Graduate Medical Education office budget; Medicare/IRIS and residents/fellow reimbursements and reconciliations; quarterly audits for both HH and UConn programs.
  • Manages and review annual HS Residents and Fellows appoint contracts which requires collaboration with Talent Acquisition and HR; review application, requirements/documentation, contracts, reappointments contracts and upgrades in position and salary requirements.
  • Manages and prepares for intuitional accreditation site visits and provides oversight of HH sponsored GME programs site reviews. Responsible for collaborating with CLER preparation site visits
  • Serves as liaison to ECGMG [J1 visa process]; UConn GME Office, Consortium Office and HH Specialty Coordinators.  Participate as member of the GMEC and chairs the Program Coordinators Committee
  • Oversight of - regulatory compliance for clinical and education work hours for Residents and Fellows; graduating requirements are fulfilled and diplomas are obtained; complete training verification documents of past GME trainees at HH
  • Participates in special projects and performs other related duties as required.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration,  secretarial science or closely related field
  • Five (5) years Graduate medical education administrative experience
  • At least two years in a supervisory/Leadership role.

An additional five (5) years Graduate medical administrative experience may substituted in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree on a case by case basis.
