Position Summary:

The Director of University Relations, working collaboratively with the Vice President of Talent Acquisition, is responsible for defining the strategic infrastructure, systems and processes to enable effective and impactful relationships with universities, colleges, high schools and community partners.  Specifically, the Director will play an essential role in designing HHC’s university relations and recruitment master plan to attract and hire top, diverse talent and establish HHC as the employer of choice on college campuses and in our community.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Designs and leads a university relations campus strategy end-to-end
  • Guides relationships with target schools and community partners to effectively recruit diverse, high potential talent
  • Creates a campus strategy and builds talent pipelines at target schools to attract and hire early careerist and new graduate talent across HHC
  • Partners with key internal stakeholders to collect the data necessary to improve the handoff of talent during the student life cycle
  • Creates an annual calendar of campus recruitment events and leads the logistical coordination and implementation of that process to include not just traditional events, but also new and creative ways to partner with and promote HHC opportunities to targeted schools and students
  • Launches, recruits and manages – with the help of assigned University Relations colleagues – the Health Equity Administrative Fellows and Internship Program 
  • Plans and executes HHC’s high school strategy to create a pipeline for entry-level opportunities.
  • Develops relationships with key members of education community (via career centers, faculty, student organizations, etc.) to establish talent pipeline partnerships
  • Designs and executes on HHC’s brand specific to University Relations – creating a strong on-campus presence that continues to strengthen our positions as an employer of choice
  • Partners on topics such as tuition assistance, onboarding, event planning, loan forgiveness, job offers, internship program and other matters that are directly related to or align with University Relations


  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree strongly desired
  • Three plus years of leadership experience in a corporate University Relations department or extensive educational experience in a directly related role required
  • Previous experience shaping University Relations strategy preferred
  • Experience in creating and delivering communication materials, planning and executing events, and representing a corporate brand required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and establish credibility
  • Visible leader with excellent interpersonal communication skills who relates well with all levels within an organization
  • Creative problem-solver with the willingness to take the initiative in leading change as well as the ability to effectively manage change
