Hartford Hospital, the region's first Level 1 Trauma Center and the second largest surgical hospital in the northeast, performed the first successful heart transplant in the state, and operates the state’s first air ambulance system, LIFE STAR. Hartford Hospital is also home to the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world.
