Backus Hospital
The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich is a 213-bed community hospital that includes; health centers in Montville, Colchester, Ledyard, Norwich and North Stonington, and the Plainfield Backus Emergency Care Center, a stand-alone ED and outpatient center. Backus has the only trauma center in Windham and New London Counties and is home to one of Hartford Hospital’s LIFE STAR helicopters.
