The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Social Work, the Social worker plans, organizes, and implements social work services to patients and their families to assist them in meeting social and emotional problems arising in connection with an illness or hospitalization. These social work services may be provided through the medium of individual case work, group work, family work, or crisis intervention. The social worker establishes and maintains working relationships with the health care team and community agencies, has a working knowledge of community and financial resources, and assists with appropriate agency referrals and discharge planning as needed.
 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, LMSW
Knowledge of the principles of social casework and human behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a hospital or medical setting preferred.
At least one year of casework experience strongly preferred.
Experience in the specialty areas towards which position is focused is desirable.
