Job Summary:

Independently performs a full range of tasks to conduct  research studies through the administration of drug solution, the collection of samples (i.e., tissue and fluids), the preparation of supplies for studies (i.e. labeling tubes and plates), sample processing, microbiological techniques and other related tasks in accordance/compliance with protocol, Standard Operating Procedures and relevant regulatory guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs and/or assists with initial collection and processing of specimens for diagnostic testing in a timely manner following established protocols and specific laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.  Accurately performs routine and complex tests utilizing a variety of techniques and equipment in order to ensure high quality outcomes.
  • Performs dosing on various animal models, tissue collection and processing of samples.  .
  • Collects, process and stores biological sample as per protocol and safety guidelines
  • Transfers study isolates as required following Study Protocol and department Standard Operating Procedures [SOP]
  • Assists with and helps prepare for MICs and E-test as well as reading and recording results.
  • Reads plates and checks data to ensure the data are consistent and meets the study requirements; may also be responsible for repeating any inconsistent results.
  • Independently performs shipping and handling of samples as per Protocol requirement and IATA guidelines.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment ensuring calibration are completed within appropriate time frames.
  • Records and maintains accurate records in compliance with Protocol or department practices, utilizing computer database or manual methods. Reviews/revises and develops SOPs.
  • Contributes to the effective utilization of project resources; Organizes and maintains study materials and supply inventory; order supplies as required.
  • Participates in the training of  new colleagues, fellows and visiting Scholars
  • Maintain a clean safe work environment in compliance with OSHA regulatory requirement and established procedures to meet accreditation standards




Associate degree in Science, Bachelor’s degree in Science preferred.

Two (2) years research experience which includes handling and dosing animals.

Current /up-to-date with CAIRD research training program.
