The Emergency Department at Plainfield is a free standing 12 bed unit, part of Backus Hospital’s emergency room that cares for patients across the spectrum of age, health, education, etc. The CT Scan Technologist works independently in the outpatient clinical setting responsible for performing all technical aspects of Radiologic Technology and CT Scan according to department procedures and protocols. May collect blood specimens from patients for analysis utilizing venipuncture techniques and may register patients collecting the appropriate insurance information for proper billing of services.All staff work together and in a supportive environment to make sure we have a safe environment for our staff & patients, working the most efficiently, and providing the highest level of satisfaction for our staff & patients.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic CT procedures according to established protocols to assist the referring physician in diagnosis and treatment. Performs computed tomography (CT) procedures by selecting correct exposure factors, algorithms and scan fields while utilizing the assessment of patient age and diagnosis to produce technically accurate cross sectional images to assist the radiologist in diagnosis and treatment. Participates in complex invasive CT examinations by assisting the Radiologist or Physician's Assistant using proper sterile technique and producing CT images.
Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiography program.
Experience: Previous CT Technologist and venipuncture experience preferred.
License and Certification: Connecticut state Radiographer license required. CT Advanced certification by ARRT required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
• Experience with PACS and digital Technology.
• Knowledge of cross-section anatomy preferred.
• Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information.
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
