Job Summary:

The Quality Data Coordinator chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data to the clinical and quality registries. This task is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and entry of assigned cases. The QDC works closely with the members of the digestive health surgery and gastroenterology departments to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified. This task is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and entry of surgical and endoscopic procedures performed at the site. The QDC shall have access to all relevant patient documentation/reporting systems to assure data collection.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate, timely and extensive medical record data abstractions; clinical quality surveillance; electronic medical record report reviews concurrently and retrospectively on all assigned clinical indicators/measures.  Coordinates data collection, abstraction and analysis for various quality improvement and/or patient care projects


  • Monitor the appropriateness of patient care based on the evidence-based outcomes and clinical guidelines.  Generates reports utilizing graphics for generic & specialized quality improvement activities


  • Be accountable for all aspects of database management including working with software vendor on database design, performance, integrity, security and reporting, as well as preparation for upcoming changes.


  • Identify of surgical and procedural patients for inclusion in the program registry through the application of strict program inclusion/exclusion criteria and protocols.


  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community and clinical offices, especially staff in the surgery, medicine, nursing, medical records, information systems departments, and others whose support is necessary for the management and success for the program. 


  • Maintain clinical quality measurement knowledge through self-development and keeps current on all changes related to clinical quality measurement requirements.





  • Associate Degree or formal training in nursing, public health, medical technology or other clinical degree/certification.
  • Two [2] years medical/surgical hospital or office nursing experience or, experience in clinical research/medical records or clinical quality improvement.
  • Active Registered Nurse CT State license.
  • Successfully completes the SCR training program
  • Attains and maintains SCR Certification upon eligibility
