Shift Details: 40hrs per week including rotating day / evening shifts. as well as rotating weekends & holidays

The Pharmacy Department at Hartford Hospital utilizes a decentralized model with pharmacists embedded on medical teams to advice on optimal drug therapy. We also have an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Residency program, an active Oncology infusion service, and a Retail/Specialty outpatient pharmacy.

Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Emergency Department Pharmacist the Medication History Technician (MHT) will perform medication histories through patient/family/significant other interviews for patients arriving in the Emergency Department to be admitted to the inpatient units. The role requires an appropriate level of understanding and training in medical terminology and medication related terms. Responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, and speak confidently with patients/family, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

Education:
• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Associates Degree in Pharmacy Technician program in preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred
• Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.

Minimum Experience:
• At least one year of hospital pharmacy experience is strongly preferred
