POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Under the direct supervision of a radiologist performs special procedures according to the Radiology Department's philosophy, goals, policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs special procedures as ordered; obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
• Performs radiographic examinations with proper credentials.
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Positions patients and operates the special procedure radiologic equipment to produce the most reliable and informational data.
• Maintains sterile field and utilizes sterile field technique during procedures.
• Recognizes the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to the patient's age.
• Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
• Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
• Responsible for ensuring that an accurate database of clinical and financial information is maintained in the Radiology Information System.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
• Assists physician with special procedures as needed.
• Transports patients to special procedure room; prepares and maintains room for daily activities.
•  Performs daily quality control checks on special procedures equipment.
• Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients and equipment.
• Maintains integrity of film processing system.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Requests supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program required
• Minimum 6 months experience in Radiology required
• ARRT Certification in Radiology required and Intervential Radiography preferred
• State of CT Radiographer License required
• CPR for Healthcare Provider preferred
• 6 month's experience in Special Procedures
