Opportunity for an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide outpatient pre-admission testing for orthopaedic patients at the Bone and Joint Institute, located in Hartford, CT.

  • The Bone and Joint Institute (BJI), Connecticut’s first and only orthopedics hospital, provides innovative musculoskeletal care with a patient-centered approach. Utilizing leading edge technologies like precision MAKOplasty robotic surgery, hip resurfacing, a special Fragility Fracture Program, The Bone and Joint Institute provides an unparalleled network of coordinated services for patients with musculoskeletal disorders and orthopedic injuries.
  • Part time scheduling, 3 8 hour shifts between M-F. No call, weekends, nor holidays.
  • An enthusiastic team utilizing a patient centered approach to specialize in performing preoperative optimization and patient education in preparation for orthopedic and spine surgery. 
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, review of patient’s medical history, perform and document H&Ps in the EMR, interpretation of lab values and EKGs, determine need for additional medical testing, ordering and interpreting testing, perform and document anesthesia risk assessment, perform teaching to patient/family regarding anesthesia and general information about surgery

Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA), or National Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) is required. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience practicing as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is highly preferred.
