St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.


Job Summary:

  • Performs a variety of administrative duties to support the assigned department(s).

Responsibilities:
  • Composes, types and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written

  • communications as required. 

  •  Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, and handles general inquiries. 

  • Schedules/coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments and travel arrangements.

  • Maintains assigned calendar(s). 

  • Establishes and maintains filing systems. Orders and stocks supplies. 

  • Proficiently coordinates complex communication and information management activities to support office activities. 

  • Maintains records, bulletin board and all postings to ensure a smooth flow of communication related to departmental activity and provides information and support to department. 

  • Demonstrates ability to be customer focused and able to effectively interact with a diverse population. 

  • May handle coordinating/scheduling procedures, insurance verification and billing based on specific needs of department.

  • Other Duties as assigned


Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Education:

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 2 or more years secretarial experience. 
  • Experience in a medical office, healthcare facility or hospital setting preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook required and ability to quickly.
