We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
The Pharmacy Department at Backus consists of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists who work together in a collaborative team environment meeting the needs of our patients.
The Lead Pharmacy Technician provides supervisory oversight of Pharmacy Technicians in the Pharmacy to ensure daily requirements are met. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to:
• Assist Director of Pharmacy services in Pharmacy Technician scheduling and performance evaluation
• Assists pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy operations in order to meet the goals and objectives of the Pharmacy Department.
• Coordinate training and onboarding of new Pharmacy Technicians to the Department
• Performs various functions on rotational basis in inpatient, outpatient, controlled substance and floor stock drug distribution, intravenous ad mixture preparation, and extemporaneous compounding.
Qualifications
Education:
• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Associates Degree in Pharmacy Technician program in preferred.
Minimum Experience:
3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a Hospital Setting
Licenses/Certifications:
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred. employment
• Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
