JOB SUMMARY

 

The Medicare Educator provides support to the provider/clinical team and serves as a critical resource to both our practices and patients.  This role serves as a single point of contact for both patient and practice education related to Medicare options. This individual is responsible for patient needs analysis, appropriate coverage recommendations, outreach to both our practices and patients, materials preparation and communications related to all Medicare programs.   The M.E provides consulting, coaching, training and learning opportunities to ICP’s senior population and staff.  This position reports to ICP’s Senior Program Director of Strategic Partnerships.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a resource for ICP/HHC’s senior patient population regarding Medicare options.
  • Serve as a resource for ICP practices, HHC facilities, institutes and divisions regarding Medicare options.
    • Will need to be the single point of contact for all HHC/ICP provider members and staff to provide education, information and consulting to their patients.
  • Conduct 1x1 and group patient meetings including: patient needs analysis, providing optimal coverage options based on specific needs and answering Medicare related questions.
  • Coordinate patient meetings, including outreach, scheduling, logistics and follow-up.
  • Ongoing training related to Medicare options available to ICP/HHC patients.
  • Conduct practice outreach to increase visibility and understanding of this role to drive patient referrals from practices/PCPs.
  • Coordinate organization-wide projects and initiatives in partnership with Medicare insurance partners.
  • Create, maintain and maintain a monthly calendar of site visitation.
  • Develop a mechanism to track conversion of current Medicare Advantage patients, new to Medicare patients and FFS Medicare patients.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing or related field required


Experience

 

Five to seven years’ experience in sales, marketing or outreach preferably in a healthcare setting. Prior health insurance or provider outreach experience preferred. Practical experience effectively overseeing workflow, providing feedback and delegate tasks as needed. Competency with various software programs

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

 

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to explain the benefits of various programs clearly and concisely to internal and external parties.

  • Capable of prioritizing and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to present to large groups.
  • Experience working with the Senior population.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations.
  • Ability to travel locally between sites; valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented with a strong bias for follow-up and problem resolution.
  • Proven ability to be a team player.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Proven leadership skills in physician practice relationships that include influencing, efficiency, collaboration, candor, and openness with a focus on results.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and computer user interfaces.
