Overview
We're seeking an experienced Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) to join The Hospital of Central Connecticut's outpatient location in New Britain, CT. This position is located within the new Cancer Center Institute which is one of Hartford HealthCare’s premier institutes that provides comprehensive coordinated patient care where patients can have all of their needs met in one location.

Position Description
The Physical Therapist (PT) independently evaluates, determines treatment strategies, delivers and/or delegates services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain, with emphasis on physical dysfunction. This role encompasses evaluation skills and techniques, analysis of patients, and therapeutic application of physical and chemical agents, exercise and other procedures to maximize the patient's functional independence. Evaluation involves strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, balance, coordination, posture, cardiopulmonary function, endurance, gait and functional abilities in activities of daily living. Reporting structure is dependent upon the site in which the staff member is assigned. This role will float to all Physical Medicine office locations on an as needed basis.

Lymphedema specific responsibilities include:
- Evaluate patient with lymphedema and create Plan of Care
- Demonstrate competence in manual lymph drainage, multi-layer bandaging, compression garment selection and application
- Provide patient and/or caregiver training for home program including MLD, bandaging as needed, application of compression garments, and skin care
- Provide appropriate and safe exercise plan for patient with lymphedema, with modifications to functional ability

Qualifications

• PT experience required, outpatient specific experience highly preferred.
• Current CT Physical Therapy license required.
• Completion of a lymphedema certification program with a minimum of 135 hours of lymphedema specialized training with one instructor required.
• LANA certification preferred.

• Ability to exercise independent judgment in analyzing facts and circumstances to determine plan of action to follow within the limits of accepted physical therapy practice.
• Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal direction.
• Strong focus on patient satisfaction.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent Customer Services skills.

• Availability to work at other Central Region locations.
