The creation of the HHC System Support Office recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities are continually evolving so that we and our departments now work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.
With the creation of our new umbrella organization we now have our own identity with a unique payroll, benefits, performance management system, service recognition programs and other common practices across the system.

Position Summary

Participates in the design, development and on-going monitoring of the Epic Revenue Cycle Real Time Eligibility (RTE) module which may integrate throughout the hospital enterprise.  This position is involved in providing additional business solutions to customers as needed. This position will report to a Supervisor.

Key Accountabilities:

Supports, troubleshoots, updates, and optimizes the Real Time Eligibility (RTE) component of Epic by running error reports, working work queues, and building a strong communication network between registration and billing.

Identifies RTE-related payor and plan changes to vet and approve through all channels until changes are made in system.

Think outside the box for build solutions in order to promote operational improvement.

Partners with Information Services team as well as RTE vendor to ensure Epic and vendor payor plan mapping are aligned and current.

Communicates system outages and/or errors.  Researches and facilitates resolution. 

Reviews payor notifications and makes recommendations for corresponding payor plan modifications for implementation. Additionally, develops and distributes weekly communications of new and/or updated referral/authorization policies. 

Analyzes department needs, translates requirements into program design; develops, tests and implements creative solutions to assist the department with meeting business objectives.

May recognize abnormal reporting patterns and initiates corrective action where required and within scope of knowledge and expertise.

Works collaboratively as a team member with user groups both within and across the hospital system; shares resources, information, tools and ideas.

Initiates self-development by maintaining a high degree of business function knowledge and current technologies and seeks opportunities to educate end-users and peers to promote a continuous learning environment.

May develop appropriate linkage by integrating department systems with other systems to ensure efficiency and facilitate flow of information across the hospital enterprise.

Works independently by assuming project leadership providing the highest quality of system consulting in order to ensure overall customer satisfaction.



  • Willingness to learn and get certified through the Epic.
  • Strong insurance background and an understanding of how RTE works.
  • Understands insurance-related denials and RTE’s impact/downstream affects.
  • Ability to multi-task and change priorities based on needs of the business.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of revenue cycle information systems knowledge related to the field.
  • Three to five years relevant information systems experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer orientation required.
  • May require specific technical/clinical/business degree.
  • Strong PC and analytical skills essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and organizational skills.
